FLORIDA — All children in the Florida Union Free School District who will enter kindergarten in September are invited to “Get Ready for Kindergarten” at the Florida Public Library on Thursday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m.
Florida Public Library’s children’s librarian Maria Martinez will share read aloud favorites and tell stories about the first day of school. Each child will make an easy craft to take home.
Golden Hill Principal Ron DePace and Library Teacher Marlayne Sick also will be on hand to read comforting and humorous stories about the children’s big day.
While the new kindergartners are enjoying the special storytime on their own, librarian Terry Numa will meet with parents for a casual book talk about the library’s newest and best Juvenile Easy Readers, a collection of books designed for beginning readers. Caregivers, grandparents and other relatives are welcome, too.
To register, visit the library’s web site and click on the Calendar of Events or call the library at 845-651-7659. This program is only for children in the Florida Union Free School District.
The Florida Public Library is located at 4 Cohen Circle behind Village Hall in Florida and is open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday hours of noon to 5 p.m. will resume on Sept. 9.
