Flags for Heroes are up and flying proudly

WARWICK — This past September the Warwick Valley Rotary Club launched "Flags for Heroes," a program to pay tribute to the heroes in our lives, past and present.
It could be a member of the military, police, fire or other first responders who put their lives on the line for us every day or a teacher, coach, mentor, community leader or anyone else who has been a hero in your life.
And with a donation of $50 anyone could honor a personal hero by sponsoring one of the three-foot by five-foot American flags, which, as of Nov. 5, will be on display at the intersection of Route 94S and County 1 until Saturday, Nov. 18.
And 125 Flags are now flying proudly with plaques identifying each hero.
Allied Excavating donated the lights and generator in place to light up the flags at night.
All proceeds will be distributed to the many non-profits that Rotary assists all year long.
