Fired up for the season

WARWICK — On Thursday evening, September 6, members of the Warwick High School Girls Basketball team and their coach James O'Brien, gathered behind Baird's Tavern on Main Street to help stack wood for the tavern's "Powers Pit Project."
The young ladies were looking to raise money for their team and rather than just receiving cash they were asked to complete work in order to receive donations from Powers Pit Project, Baird's Tavern, Fetch Bar & Grill Warwick, Fizzy Lifting Soda Pop Candy Shop and Village Billiards.
Members came together as a team and worked together for about an hour, using a wheel-barrel and their hands to move pieces of wood from a large pile on the ground to the log holders under the lean-to.
The Powers Pit Project, featuring fresh smoked meats including ribs, pulled pork and brisket is open every Saturday starting at 2 p.m. until sold out.
