Fifth Annual Warwick Valley EXPO welcomes 1,400 visitors

WARWICK — An earlier date and misty weather, more favorable to indoor activities, may have partially contributed to the success of EXPO 2012.

Breaking all previous records, 105 businesses and organizations and the largest number of visitors to date, participated in the fifth annual Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce EXPO, a community business showcase, held at the Middle School on Saturday, March 31.

And if all parking areas filled to capacity were any indication, an estimated 1,400 visitors, about 15 percent more than last year, is an accurate count and a milestone in the history of the event.

“Thanks to the hard work of our committee and our volunteers, the event was, as usual, well organized and well run,” said Michael Johndrow, executive director of the Chamber. “And this EXPO turned out to be a huge success and our best year so far.”

Johndrow also explained that unlike similar events in many other towns, Warwick EXPO committee members are always on hand early in the day to assist vendors in setting up their booths. And to be a good neighbor, chamber volunteers remove all promotional signage throughout the town right after the event.

The Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce’s EXPO 2012 showcased area businesses, both storefront and home-based, featuring local products and services as well as networking opportunities for participants. Non-profit organizations were also on hand with special exhibits. The entire day was open to the public free of charge and visitors had an opportunity to stop by the booths, meet the owners or representatives, ask questions and pick up literature.
