Faithful Friday, Sugar Loaf UMC’S out of the box approach to Sunday School, begins its third year

SUGAR LOAF — Three years ago, the Christian Education team at the Sugar Loaf United Methodist Church crafted a new approach to Sunday school.
That approach, committee members hoped, would better meet the needs of its families and one that they hoped would turn around years of decreasing enrollment due in a large part to the early hour of the Sunday morning program and the competition faced by practices and games of the local sports programs.
So the Faithful Friday concept was born. Sugar Loaf UMC moved its Christian Education program to Friday evenings from 5 to 6 p.m. and saw a huge leap in enrollment and renewed enthusiasm by the students and their families.
Beginning its third year on Friday, Oct. 13, at 5 p.m. with a meet and greet with some games and refreshments thrown in, Sugar Loaf UMC hopes to attract even more youth to the program and invites anyone interested in learning more about this out of the box approach to visit them for a test drive.
The Faithful Friday program runs from October through May with the primary goal of teaching its youth about the life changing love of Jesus Christ.
The Sugar Loaf UMC Christian Education program is open to all faiths and invites families in the community to come and check out what Faithful Fridays is all about.
