WARWICK — The "Tista 4 Life" Foundation, in conjunction with the New York Blood Center, will once again sponsor a Tista Blood Drive in memory of Daniel Rocco "Tista" Battista, the son of Warwick residents Rocco and Judy Battista.
This year's blood drive, held to honor Daniel Battista's 30th birthday, will be at the Warwick Masonic Lodge (the American Legion building), at 71 Forester Ave., in the Village of Warwick, on Saturday, June 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"This is not a fund raiser," said Judy Battista. "It is just to simply give blood, and help save a life."
She explained that one of her son's intentions before his death was to donate his organs, as he had indicated when he was issued his driver's license.
"Unfortunately we were not able to honor that," said Battista. "However, this year's blood drive is our way to honor him, his memory and how much he gave to others. The New York Blood Bank is in need of blood. We hope you can participate in this once again and sign up to donate."
New York Blood Center is one of the nation's largest non-profit, community-based blood centers. The organization has been providing blood, transfusion products and services to hospitals serving more than 20 million people in New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, New Jersey and parts of Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
