— As part of its effort to serve a growing number of individual investors and create jobs for military veterans, financial-services firm Edward Jones recently announced its plans to hire more financial advisors in the Warwick area.

Edward Jones has a long history of providing career opportunities for veterans across the county. The firm has more than 150 full-time associates in New York and more than 1,300 financial advisors with prior military experience running branches across the country - 11 percent of the firm's total financial advisor base.

Edward Jones is looking to increase this number by hiring new financial advisors who are interested in operating in an entrepreneurial environment with the support, training and mentoring benefits of one of the oldest and largest firms in the industry.

In May 2012, the firm nationally launched FORCES, a first-of-its-kind program for eligible military veterans.

Edward Jones was recognized by G.I. Jobs magazine as a 2013 Military Friendly Employer and by CivilianJobs.com as a winner of the 2012 Most Valuable Employers (MVE) for Military. According to a 2013 study by J.D. Power and Associates, Edward Jones financial advisors rated the firm "Highest in Employee Advisor Satisfaction among Financial Investment Firms." Additionally, this year Edward Jones was named a best company to work for by FORTUNE magazine, ranking No. 8 on that prestigious list, and was ranked a best company for training by Training Magazine, the 13th consecutive year the firm has earned that honor.

Edward Jones provides financial services for individual investors in the United States and, through its affiliate, in Canada. Every aspect of the firm's business, from the types of investment options offered to the location of branch offices, is designed to cater to individual investors in the communities in which they live and work. The firm's 12,000-plus financial advisors work directly with nearly 7 million clients to understand their personal goals — from college savings to retirement — and create long-term investment solutions that emphasize a well-balanced portfolio and a buy-and-hold strategy. Edward Jones embraces the importance of building long-term, face-to-face relationships with clients, helping them to understand and make sense of the investment options available today.

Headquartered in St. Louis, Edward Jones ranked No. 8 overall in FORTUNE magazine's 2013 100 Best Companies to Work For ranking. Visit the Web site at www.edwardjones.com and their recruiting Web site at www.careers.edwardjones.com.
