Dr. Ed Wiley heads Warwick Rotarians

— Dr. Edwin Wiley, retired dentist and founder of Galloway Dental, will serve as Warwick Valley Rotary Club president in 2018-19.
Wiley joined Rotary in 1982 and headed the local service club in 1988-1989. He was sworn in June 23 during the service organization’s 42nd annual installation ceremony.
Tina Buck, Warwick branch manager of Key Bank, will take over as president-elect of the 60-member service organization.
Edward Lynch, owner of Lynch Wealth Strategies, will serve as vice president.
Other officers for 2018-2019 include Laura Barca, recording secretary; Patti Lurye-Dempster, corresponding secretary; Mary McClurg and Leo R. Kaytes, co-treasurers; and David Eaton, past president.
Elected to the board of directors are Stan Martin and Leo R. Kaytes, club service co-chairs; Neil Sinclair, community service; Ryan O’Leary, vocational service; and John Mickowski, international service.
All terms are for one year.
Katie Hansen, Warwick Rotary president in 2016-2017, performed installation duties.
During Eaton’s year as president, Warwick Valley Rotary donated to 30 community non-profit groups, 10 domestic and international aid services and provided three $1,500 college scholarships, sponsored five Warwick students to the Rotary Youth Leadership program and provided scholarships for youngsters at Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center.
Eaton and Wiley, Warwick’s Rotary Foundation chair, spoke of the many accomplishment of Warwick Rotarians this past year, including the club’s being number one or near the top in the district in most gift-giving categories, “epitomizing Rotary’s motto of 'Service Above Self.’ ”
Eaton presented tokens of appreciation to his officers, board members and club project leaders.
Rotary International, a service organization with over 1.2 members in 35,000 Rotary Clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas, has as its motto “Service above Self.”
Warwick Rotarians help sponsor dozens of local projects and non-profit organizations through donations and volunteering of time. They also assist in far-reaching projects, including disaster relief, pure water and sanitation projects, Rotaplast for cleft-palate operations and Polio Plus for eradicating polio worldwide
Local Rotarians sponsor the Warwick Valley High School Interact Club, which has more than 100 members. Jeanine Fogler is the Interact advisor.
The Warwick Rotary Club meets every Wednesday noon at The Landmark Inn. Persons interested in membership are invited to attend.
