GREENWOOD LAKE — On Sunday, Aug. 13, beginning at 6:30 p.m., several outstanding local bands and solo artists will join together to perform a musical mix in a fundraiser to support the creation of the GWL Skatepark in memory of Dale Hirrel.
A minimum $10 donation is suggested.
Dale grew up skateboarding in and around Greenwood Lake and the surrounding areas. He and his friends always dreamed of having a skate park in their village.
After graduating from Greenwood Lake Middle School, Dale attended George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo.
When Tuxedo closed, he went to Chester Academy before transferring to Warwick Valley High School.
Dale died in a car accident on April 30, 2016. He was 16 years old.
The "Do It For Dale" concert is the first fundraiser to kickstart efforts to raise the estimated $200,000 to $300,000 needed to build the skate park.
All proceeds from this concert will go toward the design and construction fund for the Greenwood Lake Skatepark.
