DeAngelo withstands five primary challenges
In a week that she will celebrate her 48th wedding anniversary and her 74th birthday, incumbent Warwick Town Justice Nancy B. DeAngelo seemingly withstood five primary challenges in her quest for re-election this November, based on unofficial number from the Orange County Board of Elections.
It is simple mathematics that if your name is listed on more than one line on the election ballot, your chances increase.
Still, primary challenges on five lines is uncommon.
DeAngelo was challenged by Gregory G. Hoover Sr. on the Republican, Conservative and Independence party lines.
And she was challenged by Christine F. Stage for the right to carry the Working Families and Green party banners.
Here’s how the numbers broke down:
Republican
Nancy B. DeAngelo: 453 votes
Gregory G. Hoover Sr.: 291 votes
There also were two write-in votes.
DeAngelo captured 60.72 percent of the vote to Hoover’s 39.01 percent.
Conservative
Nancy B. DeAngelo: 34 votes
Gregory G. Hoover Sr.: 11 votes
DeAngelo won 75.56 percent of the vote to Hoover’s 24.44 percent.
Independence
Nancy B. DeAngelo: 34 votes
Gregory G. Hoover Sr. : 15 votes
DeAngelo captured 69.39 percent of the vote to Hoover’s 30.61 percent.
Working Families
Nancy B. DeAngelo: 2 votes
Christine F. Stage: 1 vote
DeAngelo won 66.67 percent of the vote to Stage’s 33.33 percent.
Green Party
Nancy B. DeAngelo: 2 votes
Christine F. Stage: 1 vote
DeAngelo’s two votes represent 66.67 of the vote; Stage’s one vote represents 33.33 percent of the tally.
According to DeAngelo, there remains an absentee Green Party ballot that could possibly result in a tie.
Stage is backed by Warwick Democrats and remains on the November general election ballot.
