— The Pine Island Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2018 scholarship opportunities of its Black Dirt Scholarship Fund for high school seniors and students attending post-secondary educational schools.
The Black Dirt Scholarship Fund awards three annual scholarships of $1,500 each to students who have demonstrated a commitment to and involvement in community volunteer service or community work experience in a more diverse environment. • Agricultural/Equestrian studies;
• Culinary Arts/Hospitality Industry; and
• Any other declared college major.
QualificationsApplicants must be a resident of the Town of Warwick and either a high school senior who will graduate in June 2018, or a student at any stage of a post-secondary education at an accredited educational facility.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to and involvement in community volunteer service or community work experience.
They must be in good academic standing and show evidence of having achieved a minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 (or equivalent).
Previous applicants may re-apply for consideration.
Applications must be postmarked no later than Monday, April 23.
