CrossFit Warwick to participate in Pink Friday on Oct. 19

WARWICK — CrossFit Warwick, a strength and conditioning facility at 56 Forester Ave., is no stranger to community service.
As an example, the affiliate of CrossFit Inc., which certifies trainers and licenses the CrossFit name to gyms, has frequently enlisted its students to participate in Wawayanda Creek cleanups and plans more efforts in the future to clean the creek of debris and trash.
And CrossFit Warwick will also participate in the first annual Pink Friday on Oct. 19 when the Merchants Guild, Bon Secours Charity Health System and the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation will join in a celebration to support all the wives, mothers, sisters and friends in the battle against breast cancer.
Pink Friday, a festive as well as educational evening, will include local hair salons providing makeovers and eyebrow threading, massages and henna tattoos along with a lineup of dance performances and fitness demonstrations on Railroad Green. And besides the many colorful shops and eateries participating and offering special discounts, gifts and other promotions, there will be several dozen street vendors along Main Street and Railroad Avenue.
“We’ll also have music to dance the night away,” said chairman Tim Mullally.
Participating shops and restaurants will donate a percentage of the day’s proceeds to Miles of Hope, a nonprofit charity that funds support services and outreach for people affected by breast cancer in the eight counties of the Hudson Valley. And Pari Forood, executive director of Miles of Hope, will be on hand with information on support services for people affected by breast cancer.
“Join us at our table on Pink Friday, where we will be completing mini-workouts of the day that promote fitness and advocate for an all-around healthy lifestyle,” said CrossFit Warwick co-owner Katie Hansen. “We will also be performing a demo of our workout of the day for our upcoming event, Barbells for Boobs, to be held on Oct. 27.”
All proceeds from that event will be donated in order to provide mammograms for low-income and uninsured women.
