Crazy Hair

WARWICK — On Friday, Dec. 6, students, faculty and staff from the Warwick Valley Middle School participated in "Crazy Hair Day" to raise money for Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation.
The middle school's fund-raising efforts were in honor of Evan Kamback. Evan was a young boy from Warwick who died of cancer. His sister Nina is in seventh grade and his brother Lyle is in fifth.
The Warwick Valley Student Senate worked with Evan's mother, Victoria Kamback, to raise money for the organization. All money raised is used to fight childhood cancer by funding research grants and increasing awareness.
The event not only raised much needed money for research but it also increased awareness of childhood cancer. The theme was hair-related because many kids with cancer lose their hair during treatment.
Students purchased hair extensions for $2 each, and they wore them proudly with their craziest hair in Evan’s honor.
Donations were also collected from staff, students and parents.
The Middle School raised $1,000 for the Arm’s Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation.
