Compost bins and rainwater barrels offered at reduced prices

GOSHEN — Orange County’s Department of Public Works and Division of Environmental Facilities and Services (DEFS) is partnering with the Village of Goshen in advance of its transition to single-day garbage pickup on a compost bin and rainwater barrel sale.
Pick up of bins, barrels and other pre-ordered items will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at the Goshen Farmer’s Market.
The purpose of this event is to reduce solid waste and raise awareness about the benefits of using compost. Compost improves and maintains high quality soil to grow healthy plants, reduce the use of fertilizer and pesticides and increase water quality.
Residents can purchase these items at a reduced rate. This event is for backyard composting: The Village of Goshen will not be conducting curbside compost collection.
Pre-orders of bins, barrels and other compost related items can be made on the website at orangecompostersale.ecwid.com/.
The deadline for pre-orders is Thursday, July 26.
This sale is not restricted to Village of Goshen residents and every individual who sets up a pre-order will automatically be entered for a chance to win a free rainwater barrel.
Pre-orders must be conducted online. Only a limited number of sales and transactions will occur on the day of the event.
