Community Showcase 2017 comes to downtown Warwick

WARWICK — In a departure from previous years, the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce held its 10th annual Warwick Community Showcase, formerly known as EXPO, in downtown Warwick on Saturday, May 20.
The event, previously held at the Middle School, is believed to have drawn record crowds but there was no way to keep an official count in the same way as when it was held indoors.
The annual event held along Main Street and Railroad Avenue showcased area businesses, both storefront and home-based, introducing local products and services as well as networking opportunities.
"We would like to thank all our volunteers," said Michael Johndrow, executive director of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce. "This is truly a community effort and this year we put all our vendors on Main Street for a day."
He explained that the idea was especially significant in the absence of an annual spring sale event but that traditional upcoming events like the July sidewalk sale and Ladies Night Out will continue on schedule.
The chamber directors feel that the Community Showcase is one of their most important programs.
"It is a great opportunity for businesses in our area to interact with potential customers in a relaxed, fun and inviting atmosphere," said Johndrow. "We endeavor to make this a family-friendly event geared at showcasing all types of businesses that are here in our valley."
Although many of the vendors do not have storefronts in downtown Warwick, the traffic generated by Community Showcase also benefited those that do.
The Warwick Valley Chamber encourages and supports new and existing businesses, offers professional opportunities in the area, facilities new partnerships, offers networking, social and educational opportunities, promotes business growth and tourism.
