WARWICK — The Warwick Community Garden will hold the kickoff informational and planning meeting for the 2014 season on Saturday, Feb. 1, 10 am, at the Warwick Valley Community Center.

The meeting is open to all town residents, returning garden members and newcomers alike.

Warwick’s garden is different than many community gardens in that there are no individual or family beds. Rather, the work involved in all garden activities – from opening up and planting to harvesting and closing down – are shared by the entire group.

Most of the harvest goes to its members, but a portion each year is shared with the Ecumenical Food Pantry.

The Community Garden, located beside the Warwick Community Center, is entering its fifth season and has grown in popularity each year.

“Last year, 2013, was our best year so far and our hopes are high for an even better season this year,” said Garden Steering Committee member Sara Werling.
