Community Center holds Olde Time Family Fourth on July 4

WARWICK — The Warwick Valley Community Center will hold its second annual Olde Time Family Fourth on Wednesday, July 4 - and wants you to participate.
The contestsBesides music, games, food and much more, there will be several contests:
• One that will take some preparation is the mustache/beard contest.
That contest was held as part of Warwick’s Sesquicentennial celebration last year, and will now switch over to the Fourth event.
• Also popular during the Sesquicentennial was the Jello Mold contest which will now take place on the Fourth.
• There will also be a Olde time county fair Best Pickle and Best Pie contests.
• There also will be watermelon and pie eating contests for both kids and adults..
There will be games for kids throughout the day, a dunk tank, plenty of home-cooked food, a magician, square dancing and lots of music featuring E’lissa Jones.
At noon, there will be a Color Guard along with patriotic singing.
There will also be tug-of-war tournaments for kids and adults that day.
Because the Olde Time Family Fourth is a fund raiser, there will be a small fee for entering the contests.
The three-decade old community center is a leader in substance abuse prevention and has a host of activities that serve all ages.
This entrance fee that will help those and future programs is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and vets, and $7 for kids, age 5 through 12. Youth under 5 are free.
The center also welcomes businesses and private parties who can help sponsor the event. There is also a plan to sponsor families who could not normally afford to take part.
Bicycle paradeA bicycle parade and pageant will kick things off at 10:15 a.m. at the Railroad Green in Warwick. The cyclists will ride to the center with the Olde Time Family Fourth running between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
