She has been approved under the SURE (Student Undergraduate Research Experience) program to conduct research at Lake Minnewaska for her second consecutive summer.
Wander has previously been involved in the assessment of the lake’s ability to recover after the introduction of a minnow species. This summer, she is focusing on the effect that both zooplankton and nutrients have on algal growth (photoplankton at different depths in the lake).
Wander also received a grant to attend the 102nd annual ESA (Ecological Society of America) in Portland, Oregon, this August where she will present Minnewaska recovery data.
Additionally, Wander was chosen for an internship at Mohonk Preserve this coming fall where she will be working on another project in her discipline.
She has maintained Dean’s List status for all four of her semesters at New Paltz.
