GraduationsJosh Rowe of Warwick graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston in August with a degree in Computer Engineering Technology.
He was the recipient of the prestigious Alumni Award, given to the student with the highest GPA in each major.
Rowe also received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence & Co-curricular Involvement at the Spring Awards dinner. This award is given to a student that maintains high standards of academic achievement while making outstanding contributions to the Wentworth community through involvement in athletics, student leadership and/or student organizations.
Rowe will be moving to Israel where he plans to get involved in the high-tech start-up community in Tel Aviv.
He is the son of Steve and Diane Rowe of Warwick.
Dean’s ListEmily Howell of Warwick was named to Dean’s List for the Spring 2017 semester at Marist College in Poughkeepsie.
She is a member of the Class of 2020 and is pursuing a Paralegal Certificate.
Tara Heatley of Warwick, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, N.J., has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2017 semester.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).
Dermot Egan of Sugar Loaf, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham Campus, located in Madison, N.J., has been named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2017 semester.

Programs, awards, honorsSara Martin, a 2015 Warwick High School graduate and junior majoring in writing at Champlain College in Vermont, was selected from hundreds of applicants across the country to be one of 12 students to study poetry at the prestigious summer program at the University of Iowa in Cedar Rapids. The program consisted of a three-week workshop led by James Galvin, the well-known published poet and professor at the University of Iowa.
Martin was one of three undergraduates attending the program. Four professors and five graduate students made up the rest of the class.
Besides attending daily classes, the students spent most of their free time work-shopping each other’s pieces.
Martin was the first student from Champlain College, known for its writing program , to be selected for the Iowa Summer Program.
Dalton Sargent of Florida took part in an internship in summer 2017 through SUNY Oswego’s Center for Experiential Learning. A senior majoring in broadcasting and mass communication, Sargent interned with Konica Minolta in Ramsey, N.J.
AthleticsWarwick residents Emily Cavanagh and Megan Reilly were named to the 2017 Women’s Cross Country team at SUNY New Paltz.

Nicole Ferro of Warwick has been named to the 2017 Women’s Soccer team at SUNY New Paltz.
First-year coach Mike Eckberg will help guide the Hawks to a bounce-back season after they finished 1-15-2 last fall.
“Ideally, I think what we want to focus on as much as possible is creating the best process and not be so driven or focused on results,” Eckberg said, “but focus on what we can control in training, focus on what we can control in the weight room and focus on our controls.”
