Programs, honors, awardsTyler R. Filipowski of Warwick is among 28 students serving as Presidential Student Ambassadors for the 2015-16 academic year at Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, Pa.

The student ambassadors promote Penn College to prospective and current students and their families, guests, alumni, business partners and friends of the college. They are selected for their demonstration of leadership, campus involvement, academic achievement and Penn College pride.

“They help to be the face of the college by providing student tours, completing various tasks around the Admissions Office and by helping prospective students see the endless possibilities available to them at Penn College,” said Claire Z. Biggs, coordinator of admissions and enrollment event services.

Filipowski is studying automotive technology management. He also is one of five student ambassadors to have earned Associate of Applied Science degrees, in his case, automotive technology.

Meagan Brady of Warwick is a member of the women’s soccer team at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont. Saint Michael’s is a Division II school.

She is a fifth-year senior (redshirted in 2014) who is a forward/midfielder. She has seven career points.

Brady is one of the veterans on the roster that third-year head coach Wendy Elles expects will lead the team to a .500 season and the playoffs.

The Purple Knights tie for the eighth-best improvement in the nation last year, rebounding from a winless campaign to go 5-11-1 overall and 4-9-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference. They sprung an upset of regionally ranked American International College and tied regionally ranked Saint Anselm College, while four of their losses came by a single tally.

Former Warwick resident Victoria Mariconti has accepted a Fulbright Program grant to Poland for an English Teaching Assistantship. Mariconti will teach English composition and conversation to students at the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz from Oct. 1 to June 30, 2016.

She is graduate of St. Stephen-St. Edward School (2007) and Boston College (2015).

Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential.

The program is the flagship international educational exchange sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The primary source of funding is an annual appropriation made by the U.S. Congress to the Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Participating governments and host institutions, corporations and foundations in foreign countries and in the United States also provide direct and indirect support. The program operates in over 160 countries worldwide.
