Graduations Ryan Amore, a 2008 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, has graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Stony Brook with a bachelor of science degree in biology. Ryan is considering graduate school. He is the son of Marie Francese and James Amore.

Janna Melasky of Warwick received a master’s degree in school counseling at the graduate commencement ceremony held May 18 at SUNY New Paltz.

Gabriel Smith of Warwick has graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science degree in computer science from RIT’s B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences in the winter 2011–2012 quarter.

The following students graduated from the College of Mount Saint Vincent on the River Lawn of the College’s Riverdale campus on Saturday, May 19:

Christine Westphal of Warwick. The following students received degrees during Alfred University commencement ceremonies on May 12:

Emily Smith of Pine Island received a bachelor of fine arts cum laude in art and design from the School of Art and Design at Alfred University. Smith, is the daughter of Scott and Dorothy Smith and a graduate of Warwick Valley High School.

Laura Smith of Pine Island received a bachelor of fine arts magna cum laude in art and design from the School of Art and Design at Alfred University. Smith, is the daughter of Scott and Dorothy Smith and a graduate of Warwick Valley High School.

Richard Lenihan of Warwick received a bachelor of science in marketing from the College of Business at Alfred University. Lenihan, is the son of Richard Lenihan and Loretta Hutchinson-Lenihan and a graduate of Warwick Valley High School.

The following students from Orange County received degrees from Berkeley College locations in New Jersey and New York and Berkeley College Online:

Lorraine Betancourt of Monroe, bachelor of science in interior design management, Paramus, N.J.

Jennifer A. Cinquemani of Monroe, associate in applied science in interior design, Paramus, N.J.

Hazel Molina of Greenwood Lake, associate in applied science in interior design, Paramus, N.J.

Theresa Robinson of Harriman, bachelor of business administration in accounting, White Plains.

Dean’s list Alexa Savaglio of Florida has earned a grade point average of 4.0 from The College of St. Rose in Albany for the spring semester where she is pursuing a degree in early education and special education with a minor in Spanish.

Alexa has achieved a 4.0 for three consecutive years. She is the daughter of Tom and Laurie Savaglio.

Emma Crone of Warwick has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester at Nazareth College in Rochester.

A student’s grade point average must be at least 3.5 or above, and must complete 12 credit hours of graded work that semester in order to be included on the dean’s list.

Katherine A. Dowling has been named to the deans’ list for the spring 2012 semester at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. She earned a GPA of 4.0.

Katherine, a 2011 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, is pursuing a double major in Middle Eastern/Islamic studies and Hispanic studies with a minor in business.

Roger Ferrec of Warwick has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Judson University in Elgin, Ill. An architecture major, he joins more than 200 other students at Judson who received a 3.55 or higher semester GPA based on 12 or more credit hours for the spring of 2012.

Christopher Abrams, a graduate of Warwick Valley High School, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester at the University of Miama. To qualify, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or better for the semester. His cumulative average for the semester was 3.535. He is studying accounting.

Honors, programs, awards Colleen S. Hamel of Florida was honored at SUNY Oswego’s recent Honors Convocation. She received the Excellence in French Award.

Hamel is a senior studying adolescence education and French at Oswego. She is the daughter of Steven and Doreen Hamel of Florida. She is a member of Tau Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, Pi Delta Pi, Del Sarte Dance Club, ENVY Step Team and Colleges Against Cancer. Her future plan is to attend graduate school.

The formal ceremony, complete with a procession of faculty and college officers in full academic regalia, is sponsored each spring at Oswego by Vega, the women’s honor society.

Kristen Jados of Pine Island, the daughter of Louie and JoAnn Jados, was inducted into the Pi Lambda Theta National Honor Society at Penn State University. Kristen has been named on the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester and spring 2012 semester with GPAs of 4.0.

She also has been recently selected for the Professional Development School. This Penn State program selects the top 60 education majors, giving them the opportunity to student teach in a yearlong program.
