Graduation• Heather Wander, a 2015 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, graduated a semester early in December from SUNY New Paltz.
She made the college’s Dean’s List every semester and has just received notification that one of her manuscripts for which she is a co-author has been approved for publication.
She was in Australia(on a grant) last month to present her findings at the GLEON Conference and returned to an email that she was selected as an “Outstanding Graduate” She will have her degree in Aquatic and Organismal Biology, and is continuing on for her PhD in Lake Ecology.
She was invited to visit Vermont University, University of Ohio in Miami and Virginia Tech in February to interview and tour as a potential graduate student.
• Demetrios Joanow, a 2015 Warwick Valley High School graduate, recently completed his B.S. degree in Biobehavioral Health from The Pennsylvania State University. He participated in the Commencement Ceremony this past December.
Demetrios was a member of The Penn State chapter of Club Croquet and served as its president. He was also captain of The Club Croquet team leading them to a National Championship in 2017.
Club Croquet is also a large service organization that raised funds for pediatric cancer and The Four Diamonds Foundation at Hershey Medical Center.
Demetrios is pursuing graduate school to become a physician assistant. Demetrios is the son of Dr. Alex and Marie Joanow.
President’s List• Mac Farruggia of Chester has been named to the President’s List for the fall 2018 semester at SUNY Oswego. His average was a 4.0.
Mac is a 2015 graduate of Warwick Valley High School and will graduate magna cum laude from SUNY Oswego School of Business in May with a degree in Marketing and Communications.
Dean’s List• PJ Esposito of Warwick has been placed on the Dean’s List for the Fall 2018 Semester at the State University of New York College at Cortland. PJ is a Sports Management Major who will be interning with The Cortland Crush for the Spring 2019 Semester. He graduated from Don Bosco Prep in June of 2015.
• Brendan Bauer of Warwick has been named to the Dean’s List at SUNY Cortland for the fall 2018 semester. The 2015 graduate of Warwick Valley High School is an Elementary and Special Education major. He is the son of Patricia and Matthew Bauer.
• Nicholas L. Maurer III of Warwick was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2018 semester at Penn State. The Dean’s List includes all full-time students who have a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or better.
Nicholas is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Automotive Technology Management.
