Graduations
Laura M. Gulfo of Warwick has graduated summa cum laude from the University at Albany with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, the Presidential Honors Society and Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society.

Laura will continue her studies at Albany Law School on an academic merit scholarship starting this fall. Laura is the daughter of Vincent and Mary Gulfo of Warwick.


Kathryn M. Gulfo of Warwick was conferred the degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) by the College of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center when she graduated in the top ten percent of her class at the end of May. She will pursue her residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York Presbyterian Hospital, University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, in New York City.

Dr. Kathryn Gulfo is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Vincent Gulfo of Warwick.


Kara Bonelli of Warwick has graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, Mass., with a bachelor of arts degree in English. She also was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester.

Kara is the daughter of Barbara Bonelli.


Cadet Michael Lawrence Fitzkee, son of Larry and Patti Fitzkee of Warwick, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point on May 25.

Michael attended Calvary Christian Academy in Warwick and Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, Pa. Graduating with a bachelor of science, he concentrated his studies in economics and civil engineering. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Field Artillery branch and will report to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, for his first assignment.


Bruce Mason of Warwick has graduated from the University of Akron in Ohio with a degree in physical education.


Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh graduated more than 600 students during its annual commencement ceremony this May. Among those earning degrees were:

Kevin Papageorge of Warwick, bachelor of arts in mathematics.


Dean’s list
Victoria Marley of Warwick has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at SUNY Cortland. Victoria is a speech-language pathology major. A 2012 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, she is the daughter of Stephen and Patricia Marley.


Emily Debuck of Pine Island has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. To qualify, students must obtain a minimum 3.4 GPA and carry at least 12 credits.


Kenneth J. Cummings Jr. of Warwick has been named to the dean’s list for the second semester of the academic year 2012-13 at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va. To be eligible, a cadet must have a term grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and no grade below C.

A recent graduate who majored in history, Cadet Cummings is the son of Noreen G. Cummings.


Julie Nouet of Warwick has been named to the dean’s honors list for the spring 2013 semester at Connecticut College in New London. Dean’s honors is a recognition for students who have earned a grade point average of at least 3.65.

Julie is a member of the college’s class of 2016.


The following students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at Fairfield University in Connecticut:

Caitlin Carroll of Florida.
Nicholas Givas of Warwick.

To qualify, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5 of a possible 4.0.


Michelle Mione of Warwick has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 at Caldwell College in Caldwell, N.J. To qualify, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and complete at least 12 credits during the semester.


Megan Connolly of Warwick has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at Cornell University.


Shane Connolly of Warwick has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Emma M. Tomko of Warwick, has been named to the dean’s list at Boston University for the spring semester.

Each school and college at Boston University has their own criterion for the dean’s list, but students generally must attain a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), or be in the top 30 percent of their class, as well as a full course load as a full time student.


The following local students were named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at SUNY Buffalo State.

Hannah Benjamin of Pine Island, who is majoring in interior design.

Caitlin Waters of Warwick who is majoring in journalism.

To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.


Fletcher Laico of Warwick was named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at Wake Forest University on Winston Salem, N.C. Students who achieve a 3.4 and no grade below a C were named to the list.


Sophomore Myles Krizan of Warwick, son of Diana and Greg Krizan, has been named to the spring term dean’s list at Hartwick College in Oneonta.

Inclusion on Hartwick’s Dean List is an indication of excellent academic work, including the completion of a full course load with at least a 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale.

Krizan is majoring in business administration. He is the son of Diana and Greg Krizan.


Honors, programs, awards
Alison Fatzynytz, of Warwick is serving an internship at Oppenheimer in Saddle Brook, N.J. this summer. She is a rising senior majoring in business administration with a marketing emphasis at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.

Fatzynytz s responsibilities include analyzing documents and creating potential marketing campaigns for new clientele. Through the course of the internship, she will gain experience in the financial and marketing fields.

Fatzynytz is a 2010 graduate of Warwick Valley High School.


Ryan Wengryn had a successful walk-on tryout for the University of Connecticut football team and will be a kicker for the Huskies this fall.

He is entering his junior year at UConn and is enrolled in the business school as an accounting major.

Ryan played soccer and football at Warwick Valley High School, played and coached soccer in the Warwick Soccer Club and is a graduate of St. Stephen-St. Edward School. He is the son of Terri and Pete Ryan, the older brother of Kate and the son of Peter Wengryn of Mahwah, N.J.
