GraduationsBeatrice Arner, a 2011 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, has graduated from Hofstra University Honors College where she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Journalism from the accredited Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, with minors in Sociology and Women's Studies.

Upon graduation, Beatrice accepted a position at the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce where she specializes in marketing and graphic design.

Wayne R. Lawrence of Warwick has graduated from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga., with a degree in Public Health.


Tori Aiello has graduated Cum Laude from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Communication.

She also received a Special Events Management Certificate and is now working in the music department at a top talent agency in Los Angeles.


Daniel Zakzewski of Warwick graduated summa cum laude from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., and earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering.


Michael Benedetto, a graduate of Warwick Valley High School, has graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill.

He has accepted a position with Mediacom in Chester.

Adina Benedetto, a graduate of Warwick Valley High School, has graduated magna cum laude from Mitchell College in New London, Conn. She also was named to the Dean’s List for her last semester at Mitchell.

Adina has accepted a job with the Marriott Hotel Group in Mystic, Conn.

Dean’s listEmily Zarow of Warwick has earned Highest Honors for the spring 2015 semester at the University of New Hampshire.

Highest Honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0.

Kimberly Kocot, a 2014 graduate of S.S. Seward Institute, has been named to the Dean's List again for the Spring 2015 semester with a GPA of 4.0. She attends Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, where she is studying Business Management and Administration.

To be eligible, full-time students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester grade-point average of at least 3.5 with no grades of D, F, Incomplete or Pass/Fail.

Honors, programs, awardsColette Passafiume of Warwick was selected to serve as a SUNY Oneonta Orientation Leader for the 2015-2016 academic year.

In addition to leading activities for new students and their parents during 10 summer orientation sessions, Orientation Leaders welcome new students into their new community by leading small groups, answering questions about the college and college life, and mentoring new students through the first few weeks of the semester. Orientation Leaders are selected through a rigorous application and interview process. They receive a stipend for their work.

SUNY Oneonta held three orientation sessions for transfer students in June. Freshman orientation began Wednesday, July 1, and will continue through July 21 in a series of six two-day sessions. The final orientation session of the summer will be held Aug. 27-28, four days before fall classes begin.

Thomas G. Holtman Jr. and Daniel J. Podeszwa of Warwick were among the 59 members of The University of Scranton’s undergraduate class of 2015 honored for academic excellence, service or both at Class Night on May 29.

• Holtman was the recipient of the Excellence in Operations Management Award. An operations management major and a member of the Business Leadership Honors Program, Holtman graduated magna cum laude. Holtman was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society; Omega Rho, the international honor society for operations research and management; and Alpha Sigma Nu, the national Jesuit honor society. He was the President of the Operations and Information Management Club, and the Vice President of the Men and Women for Octaves a capella group.

Holtman will return to The University of Scranton to complete his Master of Business Administration in operations management. Holtman graduated from Warwick Valley High School.

• Podeszwa received the Excellence in Biochemistry Award. He graduated cum laude with a major in biochemistry and a minor in psychology. Podeszwa was a member of the Chemistry Club and Phi Lambda Upsilon, the national honor society for chemistry.

This fall, he will work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for chemistry while pursing his master’s degree in biochemistry at The University of Scranton.

Podeszwa is a graduate of John S. Burke Catholic High School in Goshen.

Tyler Barbariantz of Florida, N.Y., the son of Denise Barbariantz and Chris Barbariantz, has enrolled for the 2015-2016 academic year at Rochester Institute of Technology. He is in the Applied Statistics - MS program in RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering.

Barbariantz is a 2010 graduate of S.S. Seward Institute and has a degree in applied mathematical economics and business administration from SUNY Oswego.
