— The National Society of High School Scholars has announced that Warwick Valley High School student Claire Finnegan of Chester has been selected as a member of the organization.

The society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated leadership, scholarship and community commitment.

The announcement of Finnegan's selection was made by the society's founder and chairman, Claes Nobel, a member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes.

"I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice and commitment that Claire has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence," Nobel said in the press release announcing Finnegan's selection. "Claire is now a member of a unique community of scholars - a community that represents our very best hope for the future."

Membership in the NSHSS entitles students to a variety of benefits, including scholarship opportunities, academic competitions, free events, members-only resources, publications and participation in programs offered by educational partners.

"Our vision is to build a dynamic international organization that connects members with meaningful content, resources and opportunities," the society's president, James W. Lewis, added in the press release. "We aim to help students like Claire build on their academic success and enhance the skills and desires to have a positive impact on the global community."
