Church welcomes new rector

WARWICK — Christ Episcopal Church, located at 50 South St., has appointed the Rev. James W. Erwin as its new rector.

Erwin comes to Warwick from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Riverside Conn., where he served first as a curate and then as assistant rector. He also oversaw the youth and outreach programs there.

He grew up in Savannah and Atlanta, Ga. After graduation from the University of Georgia, he worked for 23 years in the advertising agency business, including the last as president of his own firm in Charlotte, N.C.

He eventually moved to NYC to attend General Theological Seminary where he graduated in 2009.

“Father Jim is a wonderful, fun and compassionate addition to the Christ Church family,” church officials said in the press release announcing Erwin’s appointment. “The congregation looks forward to many exciting years with him at the helm.”
