Chumley's BBQ in Florida adds beer and wine to its menu

FLORIDA — Chumley's BBQ and Catering, 56 North Main St., in the Village of Florida, has been offering a popular selection of barbecue favorites for almost 13 years.
Patrons praise their award-winning ribs as well as Downstate Texas Brisket, classic rotisserie chicken, Tennessee pulled pork and Chumley's own tailgate steak along with many other classic dishes as well as hand-tossed salads made with fresh, local ingredients.
Most people agree that barbecue goes great with beer and the restaurant recently announced the addition of beer and wine to its menu.
And that called for a celebration.
'Complete the experience'On Aug. 14, owner Lori Lemire and her staff were joined by town, village and chamber officials to celebrate with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
"We wanted to complete the experience for our customers," said Lemire. "Who doesn't enjoy a nice cold beer or a glass of wine with their barbecue?"
Some of the new beer selections are brewed locally, some are craft and others are commercial domestic beers. They include Newburgh Brown Ale and Coors Light on tap; Newburgh Cream Ale, Keegan Bine Climber, Sam Adams Summer Ale and Ithaca Apricot Wheat in cans along with Bud, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light as well as Corona and Angry Orchard Green Apple in bottles.
Chumley's BBQ also serves a selection of local wine including Summerfields and Wawayanda white wines and International Red and Merlot from Applewood Winery in Warwick.
Pairings"It was the next logical step for Chumley's," said Lemire. "With all of the time we've spent serving at festivals, we've learned that a good beer or a nice wine is the perfect complement to our menu."
The staff at Chumley's has also learned to choose the right pairings for their barbecue items.
For example, the Newburgh Brown and Cream ales are a perfect companion to Chumleys' grilled ribs and burgers.

Chumley's BBQ and Catering is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m.
