The election of Pope Francis in March served as an opportunity for the children at St. Stephen’s - St. Edward’s elementary school in Warwick to learn something about the new pontiff, head of the Catholic Church. Children in Marianne Sims’ Grade 2 class, inspired by Religious Education Coordinator Lydia Van Duynhoven and with the help of Art Teacher Mary Jane Undersinger, crafted an impressive number of mitres, the tall ceremonial head covering worn by the pope.
