Child Safety Day is April 21

    GOSHEN — Orange County Child Safety Day will be held from 10 am to 2 p.m. , to be held this Saturday, April 21 at the Orange County Fire Training Center, 9 Training Center Lane, New Hampton.

    The free event, hosted by U.S. Rep. Nan Hayworth, will provide parents, grandparents, and guardians with expert child safety information from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Emergency Communication, and West Point Fire Department.

    Highlights include: Safe Child ID Program — Parents may create an identification card of their children for safekeeping in case of an “Amber Alert"

    Fire Safety/Prevention Program — Children will learn fire safety and how to escape from a fire

    Seatbelt/safe driving presentation

    Car safety demonstrations Sheriff’s K-9 presentation

    E-911 presentation Traffic safety presentation

    “Keeping a child safe is the number one priority for parents,” said County Executive Edward Diana. “Parents will learn from the experts on how they can increase their ability to safeguard their children.”
