CHESTER — Three propositions on the ballot in Chester won overwhelmingly Tuesday, including the proposal to borrow $1.1 million to buy the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center (3,292 — 1,040) and to switch to a ward system of government (2,650 — 1,825).
The town's annual contribution to the library also received strong support (2,650 — 1,825).
The performing arts center is in the Warwick school district.
Tuesday's decision is in stark contrast to the 2016 vote rejecting the town's proposal to buy the Frozen Ropes sports training facility for $3.3 million. That proposal was rejected 3,230 to 1,628.
