— There was a light rain on Monday evening, Sept. 17 but nevertheless, with more than 280 tickets sold and more than 20 last-minute walk-ins, it was a record turnout for the 24th annual Taste of Warwick
Early arrivals gathered indoors at the winery's tasting bar and some also kept perfectly dry seated under table umbrellas on the 4000 sq. ft. patio.
Everyone then entered the huge tent to mingle with friends and sample gourmet dishes and wine provided by almost 30 vendors.
And during the evening, the poplar band, Longchamp & Manzo, provided live musical entertainment.
Each year the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce holds A Taste of Warwick as a showcase of the region's best restaurant chefs, caterers, markets, florists and wine merchants.
The event takes place on the picturesque grounds of the Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery. And, as the Taste of Warwick highlights local cuisine, it also contributes to a sense of community.
During the 24 years that the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce has hosted this popular event Peck's Wines and Spirits holds the record for having participated every year. The runner up is The Landmark Inn, which only missed one year due to an unavoidable circumstance.
The Chamber's Executive Director Michael Johndrow thanked the vendors, the owners of the Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery and the sponsors for their generosity all these years.
"We appreciate all of those who participate and who take time away from their own businesses to make our annual Taste of Warwick a success," he said. "We urge everyone to support them. And this event would not be possible without Jason and Erika Grizzanti, E. P. Jensen Nursery and music by Longchamp & Manzo."
