WARWICK — Warwick Valley School Board recognized outstanding students and “heroic” teachers at Monday night’s regular monthly meeting:
Academic Excellence
The following students were recognized for receiving the New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Award:
Thomas Krahulik; Samuel Sander Effron; Harli Weber; Alan Held; Eric Gioe; Kathryn Ranni; Grant Parrelli; Christy Lau; William Marmor; Olivia Oleck; Farrell Brenner; Megan Sheldon; Lauren Brandt and Rachel Botbyl.
Sojourner Truth Award
Students in grades 6 through 12 who have excelled in athletics, citizenship, creative arts, diversity, English Language Arts, foreign languages, perseverance/effort, and sciences and technology were bestowed with The Sojourner Truth Award. The awardees were:

Triple ‘C’ Award
This award, sponsored by the Office of the New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, is given to those students who best demonstrate character, courage and commitment during the school year. Middle School Principal Cindy Leandro nominated the following students: Ava Ghobadian, Lauren Lepre and Grace McGowan.

Regular business
The board approved the Energy Performance Contract Amendment, deleting Kings Elementary from the EPC, and it voted to approve the Devereux School (a residential Special Education facility) contract for 2013-14.
The district also agreed to purchase wireless equipment through Orange-Ulster BOCES.
The board voted to honor Dr. Marijane Reinhard, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instructional services, who is retiring after 22 years of service, by naming her regular seat in the high school theater.
