— Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County executive director Dean Scher has announced Carol Diemer has been named director of the not-for-profit agency's Early Learning Center. Diemer brings more than 35 years of teaching experience to the pre-school program.

"Carol brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Catholic Charities' Early Learning Center," said Scher. "From childhood education to business management, staff development, administration, and child care, Carol knows first-hand how to manage a successful early learning program and provide children with the experiences they need to grow, thrive, and learn," Scher added.

Prior to accepting the position as director of the ELC, Diemer served as executive director of the Rockland Worksite Day Care in Pomona. While there she earned approval for the day care to serve as a universal pre-kindergarten site. Diemer, a Fort Montgomery resident, also serves as an adjunct assistant professor of education at SUNY Orange where she teaches classes on early childhood, management of childcare centers, and childhood education.

"I'm delighted to have been selected to continue the Early Learning Center's legacy of success," said Diemer. "We are fortunate to have trained and qualified staff whose dedication, creativity, energy, and caring nature are at the heart of our program. It's been my pleasure to get to know them as I get settled in my new position."

Since 1993, the Early Learning Center, located at 59 St. John St. in Goshen, has been providing children ages three to five with a well-rounded program designed to encourage physical and intellectual development. The ELC is licensed to serve 57 students daily and offers two, three, and five day, full-day programs. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
