Carol Bartlik appointed as principal of Greenwood Lake Elementary School

GREENWOOD LAKE — Superintendent of Schools Christine Ackerman and the Greenwood Lake Board of Education announced the appointment this week of Carol Bartlik as principal of Greenwood Lake Elementary School

Bartlik replaces Natasha Shea who left the district last month to accept a position as a high school principal in Rockland County.

"Following a comprehensive search and interview process with various stakeholders, Mrs. Bartlik was selected from a strong pool of candidates," the district said in its press release announcing the appointment. "Superintendent Ackerman feels after meeting with faculty, staff and community members that Mrs. Bartlik has both the personal and professional characteristics we desire in our next elementary principal."

Bartlik recently was the assistant principal at Roaring Brook Elementary School in Chappaqua. In that role, she served as a Reading and Writing Workshop professional developer, a lead evaluator for teachers, the Committee on Special Education chair, the PTSA liaison and the Response to Intervention (RTI) chair.

Prior to her work at Chappaqua, Bartlik was a reading specialist and staff developer at the Bedford Village Elementary School in Bedford.

She also has more than 25 years of experience as an elementary classroom teacher in Westchester and on Long Island.

She is a graduate of the Bank Street College of Education’s highly rigorous Administrative Leadership and Supervision Ed.M. program. She also received an M.A. in elementary education from Adelphi University and a B.A. in communication Studies from SUNY Oswego.
