— During 2013, the Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund will mark its 15th year of providing financial assistance to families with seriously ill children in the mid-Hudson Valley of New York.

Founded in memory of Brian, a 13-year-old Warwick boy who succumbed to brain cancer in August 1998, the Children’s Fund has provided more than $820,000 to more than 450 families in that 14+ year span.

In addition to helping those families, the BACF has supported the Brian Ahearn Memorial Scholarship at Warwick Valley High School since 1999. A total of $55,000 has been awarded to 55 college-bound, graduating seniors (from the Warwick District) who have overcome adversity or profound hardship in their lives.

One of the key components of the Children’s Fund’s support is the annual golf outing. The outing will be held on Friday, May 24, at Crystal Springs Resort. This year’s outing will kick off the anniversary events with a special commemorative gift to all participants, along with the usual great day of golf at one of the northeast’s best golf resorts.

On Nov. 23, the Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund will host its 15th anniversary dinner celebration. This event, which includes the always popular silent auction, will honor our volunteers and supporters. Details are currently being finalized, but this fund raiser will differ from past fall events.
