WARWICK — The Warwick community has lost another of its most treasured citizens.
On Tuesday, June 14, well-known Warwick businesswoman Bonni Masi Oswald passed away at St. Anthony Community Hospital. She was 71 years old.
Ms. Oswald had owned and managed her State Farm Insurance Agency in the Carriage Path at 40-1/2 Main St. for 35 years.
But she was more than a businesswoman.
Ms. Oswald was best known for her generous spirit and her numerous contributions to the Warwick community.
In addition to being an active member of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce, Warwick Rotary and the Warwick Country Club, Oswald gave her time and support to many local organizations, including Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center, the Orange County Land Trust, the Warwick Ecumenical Council Food Pantry, the Bon Secours Warwick Health Foundation and the Warwick's Farm Aid program.
She was frequently honored and recognized for her community service.
Ms. Oswald also served on the Board of St. Anthony Community Hospital for several years and chaired many fund-raising events.
As an active church member, she taught Sunday school and made several missionary trips to Central and South America.
In 201, Ms. Oswald was honored for her longtime support of Winslow Therapeutic Center at the organization's annual gala.
"This is a devastating loss for the chamber and for the whole community," said Michael Johndrow, executive director of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce. "She will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family."
