Board of Elections: Absentee ballots available, election inspectors sought

GOSHEN — Orange County voters who will be out of the County or cannot visit the polls in person due to illness or disability on Primary Election Day, Thursday, Sept. 13, may request an Absentee Ballot Applications by calling the Orange County Board of Elections at 845-360-6500 or 1-800-879-POLL, by email elections@orangecountygov.com or visiting online at www.orangecountygov.com/elections
• The last day to postmark application for a ballot is Thursday, Sept. 6.
Voters may also obtain a ballot in person at the Board of Elections office at 75 Webster Ave., Goshen, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Sept. 12.
The Board of Elections will have extended hours for absentee balloting on the following dates and times:
• Saturday, Sept. 8, 9 a.m. to noon.
• Tuesday, Sept. 11, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Become an election inspectorThe Orange County Board of Elections is seeking registered voters who wish to participate in our democracy by working as election inspectors in their communities for upcoming 2018 Elections:
• State and Local Primary on Sept. 13.
• General Election on Nov. 6.
To serve as an election inspector all individuals are required to be a registered voter and resident of Orange County, and able to speak and read the English language and write it legibly.
Residents, who also speak Spanish and meet all the other requirements, are needed to serve as bilingual election inspectors.
All Inspectors are required to attend one training session each year. Election Inspectors will be compensated for training by the Board of Elections.
• Table Inspectors are paid $225 per election.
• Machine Inspectors are paid $250 per election.
• Inspectors are also paid $25 to attend class.
