Blood donors will receive Price Chopper gift card

WARWICK All donors who donate blood at Community Blood Services site in Warwick on Thursday, July 5, or at the New Windsor donor center on Saturday, July 7, will receive a Price Chopper gift card as a thank you gift.
Volunteer blood donations are critically needed to maintain the blood supply, especially just before and after the July Fourth holiday when donors are away on vacation and high school blood drives are winding down for the school year, said Karen Ferriday, community affairs director. Providing our donors with a gift card is just one way to thank them for taking time out of their busy schedules to help build up our supply.
Ferriday said all blood types are needed, especially O negative, A negative and B negative, in order to meet the needs of seriously ill patients at area hospitals.
Donors can donate on Thursday, July 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a bloodmobile at the Warwick Valley Middle School, 225 West St., or they can donate Saturday, July 7, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the New Windsor donor center, 575 Hudson Valley Ave., Suite 206.
To schedule an appointment to donate, call 866-228-1500 or visit www.communitybloodservices.com. Walk-ins are also welcome but appointments are recommended. An appointment is needed to donate platelets at the Warwick Middle School only.
Blood donors must be 17-75 years old (16 years old with parental permission) and weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors also receive complimentary non-fasting cholesterol and glucose health screenings.
