Beautiful People host seventh annual golf outing next Thursday June 2
MONROE — You are Beautiful People, a non-profit organization whose mission is to build bridges between children with disabilities and their families and the broader community of Orange County, will host its seventh annual golf outing fund raiser next Thursday, June 2.
The event will be held at the Golf Club at Mansion Ridge, a Jack Nicklaus signature design course at 1292 Orange Turnpike in Monroe. The course is rated as one of the top 20 public golf courses in New York.
You are Beautiful People strives to provide adaptive sports programs for ages five and up.
Currently, 200 athletes from Orange County participate in seasons of baseball, soccer, and basketball year round, with another 80-100 volunteers helping as buddies with one-on-one support for those who need it.
Warwick will be the home of the new home of Beautiful People with a fully accessible ball field in Wickham Woodlands. Completion is planned for later this summer.
This goal will enable the non-profit to provide sports to those children with physical challenges using walkers and wheelchairs to safely participate.
"We are proud to be a resource to see that those with special needs have the chance just as their mainstream peers do to socialize, exercise, and enjoy the benefits of team sports," said Executive Director Jan Brunkhorst. "Proceeds from the golf outing will be used for programming and for building our fully accessible ball field, the Miracle League "Field of Dreams. Your help is needed for this important capital project."
