‘Beautiful People’ director joins Rotary

Children and young adults with disabilities are getting the opportunity to play baseball and other sports thanks to Beautiful People, a program begun in 2005 and headquartered in Warwick. Local Rotarians have supported Beautiful People for several years. Jan Brunkhorst, executive director for the program, was installed recently as a member of Warwick’s Rotarian service club. She told Warwick Valley Rotarians how Beautiful People was honored during the New York Yankees HOPE Week. The special needs children from Beautiful People were paired with New York Yankee players, coaches and staff for a baseball game and treated to a dinner on the field of Yankee Stadium. Rotary District 7210 Governor Bill Bassett, retired BOCES superintendent, oversaw Brunkhorst’s installation at the Landmark Inn.
