Art-n- Soul kids spread holiday cheer and donate $758 to food pantry

WARWICK — Remember the meaning this holiday season is what Kim Olsen Scotto, owner of Art & Soul, has been positively instilling in young minds.
"Giving spreads joy to the world and can truly make a difference especially to the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry," said Scotto. "Park Avenue and Sanfordville Elementary students who are involved in Art-n-Soul enrichment classes recently donated their earnings of $758 through making and selling their handmade crafts. Their generous donation help to fill the shelves and hearts of families in need this season."
Once each week the Art & Soul class gets together to create and learn about business.
The topics range from making art and professional business cards to learning life skills such as money exchange, designing bags, signs and more excitingly representing their works of art to sell to the public at the Warwick Middle School Craft Fair.
"Different minds are needed to make this world balanced," she said. "We are all born with artistic talents and by positively influencing and encouraging creativity we open the doors to endless possibilities for all."
Scotto added: "My Christmas wish is to always remember that it is a privilege to be a teacher, a person who greatly impacts the developing minds of fearless children. To never discourage but to remind them of how unstoppable they can be if they just work hard and believe in themselves. And if I can make a difference in a child's life and help them recognize their passion through art, sales, marketing, public speaking, finance, servicing the community or simply to follow the leader within, I have fulfilled my purpose."
Art-n-Soul Jr. Entrepreneurs is offered to second, third and fourth grade students in the spring and fall at Sanfordville and Park Avenue Elementary as well as at St. Stephen - St. Edward Elementary School.
