WARWICK — Firing on the First World War’s Western Front ended on Nov. 11, 1918, at “the eleventh hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.”
After four years of fighting, an eerie stillness fell across the battlefields of Europe.
The next day, Allied commander Field Marshal Ferdinand Foch sent a message to the Allied Armies: “You have won the greatest battle in history and served the most sacred cause - the Liberty of the World.”
On Sunday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m., the Albert Wisner Public Library will present "Remembering the Armistice,” a program of history, poetry and music to honor those who served.
Participants will include historian Dr. Richard Hull, The Jubilate Youth Choir, dramatist Linda Richmond, poet Donna Spector, singer Jody Weatherstone, educator and drama student Scott Sibilla, musical group The E Minor Trio, members of VFW and others.
No registration is required. Doors open at 12:45 p.m.
