Sherry Rosso of Florida shared this photograph of Great Blue Herons she took recently while out in her boat on Glenmere Lake. The Great Blue Heron was one of the many species originally described by Carl Linnaeus in his 18th century work, “Systema Naturae.” He was a Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist, who laid the foundations for the modern scheme of binomial nomenclature. He also is considered one of the fathers of modern ecology.
