Applefest Committee announces the winners of T-shirt Design Competition

WARWICK — The Applefest 2017 Committee has just announced the winners of this year's 29th Anniversary T-shirt Design Competition and expresses its appreciation to all who submitted a design.
In the adult category, first prize was awarded to Erin Jung, whose design will be printed on Applefest 2017 tee shirts and posters and sold at Applefest on Sunday, October1.
Jung is a Warwick resident who is currently a sophomore at New York University, majoring in Animation. She will also receive a $50 Warwick Merchant Guild gift certificate.
The second-prize winner is Mabelyn Glanzman, who will receive a $25 Warwick Merchant Guild gift certificate. And the third-prize winner is Lori Scaffidi, who will receive a $10 Warwick Merchant Guild gift certificate.
In the student category, first prize was awarded to Shirley Chen, who will receive a $20 Warwick Merchant Guild gift certificate. Chen is also a Warwick resident who is entering Warwick Valley High School this fall.
The second prize student winner is Sofie Minogue, who will receive a $15 Warwick Merchant Guild gift certificate. And the third prize student winner is Aja Brandt, who will receive a $10 Warwick Merchant Guild gift certificate.
Merchant Guild gift certificates may be used at a wide variety of stores, restaurants, and businesses in Warwick.
Before Applefest, all T-shirt design contest submissions will be displayed in the window of Akin's Pharmacy on Main Street. And after the festival, all entries will be available for pickup at the Chamber of Commerce Caboose on South Street until Nov. 25.
