Annual July Sidewalk Sale enjoys great weather and record crowds

WARWICK — The general consensus about this year's annual sidewalk sale, held on Saturday, July 7, and Sunday, July 8, was that it was a huge success.
Visitors enjoyed excellent weather, comfortable temperatures, bright sun and blue skies.
"This was the best July sidewalk sale to date," said Tom Roberts, president of the Merchant Guild and owner of Ye Olde Warwick Book Shoppe.
Past Merchant Guild President Mary Beth Schlichting echoed that sentiment.
"Thanks to this beautiful weather," she said. "We did have our best sidewalk sale."
There were approximately 40 vendors and non-profits stationed along Main Street and Railroad Avenue. Many of the visitors took an opportunity to enjoy indoor and outdoor dining.
Event Chair Corrine Iurato, manager of Peck's Wines and Spirits, also reported that this year's July Sale was a big success.
"The weather made it," she said. "I couldn't have ordered better."
Other business owners like Tim Mullally, co-owner of Style Counsel and Blue fashion shops also reported brisk sales inside as well as outside their stores as a result of the increased traffic from the sidewalk sale.
The annual Sidewalk Sale is hosted by the Warwick Merchants Guild with local shops and eateries contributing to fund the event.
