Alzheimer's Association holding fund raiser for music program
GREENWOOD LAKE — Organizers of the Alzheimer's Association Music Social Program are holding a fund raiser this Saturday in Greenwood Lake.
The program provides bimonthly support to those suffering from the disease and their caregivers.
Many local merchants, including CVS Pharmacy, DeFeo's Marina, Deidre's Day Spa, Attorney Nancy Brenner D'Angelo, Finesse Auto Body, The Irish Whisper and Windermere Insurance Agency have donated to the event. DJ Steve Regan has offered his services for the event.
There will be raffles, food, musical crafts and surprises at the fund raiser, which runs from 2 to 5 p.m. It will be held at the Greenwood Lake Garden Center, 96 Windermere Ave. If it rains, the event moves to the Greenwood Lake Elks Lodge, 35 Chestnut St. The suggested donation is $10 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 10 years old. Kids under 5 are free. All proceeds benefit the music program.
According to Melinda Burgard of Melinda's Music, who runs the program, the socialization programs are for those with Alzheimer's disease and dementia and their family caregivers. This program provides an opportunity to socialize in a safe environment. Programs provided by the Alzheimer's Association Music Social Program are held in Goshen at Glen Arden and in Vails Gate at the New Harvest Christian Church. There is no charge for the program but pre-registration is required.
