All-important meeting coming for Community Visioning

—This campaign — jointly funded by the Town of Warwick and the Villages of Florida, Greenwood Lake and Warwick — is being managed by Community 2000, the organization that led the first Warwick Visioning in 1993.
Since its mid-summer launch the Community2gether Visioning has already passed key milestones. First came the Focus Groups in which over 70 people participated and from which a sense of the major community themes and “hot buttons” emerged.
Those results fed directly into the community wide survey to which 1,794 Warwickians, Greenwood Lakers and Floridians responded.
According to Gianni Longo, the nationally known visioning consultant who is leading the current effort, and also led the successful 1993 project, “This is an amazing and very positive number for a community of this size.”
During the week of Nov. 13, three “Community Voices” meetings were held, one in each of the villages, where village residents focused specifically on key strengths and opportunities as they expressed their thoughts on their village’s future.
The next big stepAll of this positive energy and focus is building to the final Community Voices meeting for the entire town on Monday, Dec. 11.
It will take place in the Warwick Middle School cafeteria, starting promptly at 7 p.m.
It is at this meetings that the threads of the community input so far will be drawn together and a true community Vision will emerge.
Key questions will be addressed:
How should the town and the villages grow and still retain the qualities that make them special?
How can we attract the right kinds of new business?
How can we keep housing affordable for young people and seniors?
If questions like these are important to you, the Town-wide Community Voices is crucial.
Everyone is urged to attend — residents, business owners, farmers, members of the various chambers and service organizations, town and village officials, anyone with a stake in the future of the greater Warwick community.
