Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation announces its 2013/14 annual appeal

WARWICK — The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation is announcing its 2013-14 annual appeal : “Making a Difference!”
"The library makes a difference every day in the life of the community," the foundation said in its press release annoucing the appeal. "The library receives public support, but private donations build the library into a community resource by supporting year ‘round free musical concerts, Storytime Toes, Teen Battle of the Books, computer classes, professional assistance to job seekers, the Warwick Children’s Book Festival and Kindles to borrow among its many services."
And over the past several years, the foundation has provided $20,000 per year in support of the library’s annual budget.
The mission of the foundation is to provide private financial support for the library, thus creating opportunities for the library's continued growth and enhanced service to the residents of Warwick. Each year a portion of the library's operating income, as well as support for programs and collections, comes from tax-deductible gifts to the appeal.
Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes, longtime and enthusiastic supporters of the library, are joined again this year by Donna Applegate and Jonah Mandelbaum in providing a combined match of $20,000. That means for every dollar donated up to $20,000 the library will receive $2 to be used to enhance programs, services and collections.
“People often comment to me on how much the library does, the wonderful programs for all," Library Director Rosemary Cooper said in the press release. "I quickly respond by telling them how many of those programs are supported by the foundation and simply would not be possible without this additional generous support.”
The appeal runs through Spring. People may donate by using the form mailed to library residents, they may pick up a form at the library itself or donate online at the library's Web site.
