Alan Seidman to receive the Ottaway Medal

SUGAR LOAF — For almost a quarter century, the Orange County Citizens Foundation has awarded the Ottaway Medal to an individual who embodies the outstanding community leadership and commitment exemplified by James and Ruth Ottaway.
Known for their philanthropy, business leadership and commitment to community, the Ottaways developed organizations and programs that greatly preserved and improved quality of life in our county. That mission continues today with the Orange County Citizens Foundation.
On Thursday, May 3, at 5 p.m. at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor, the Ottaway Medal will be awarded to this year's recipient, Alan Seidman.
A lifelong resident, Seidman serves on the boards of important local organizations like the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Pattern for Progress and Kol Yisrael among others. Currently executive director of the Construction Contractors Association, Seidman served as chairman of the Orange County Legislature for several years and has made a long-lasting impact on the community.
"Alan personifies all the Ottaway Medal represents," said Citizens Foundation President Nancy Proyect. "He is an exceptional businessman and a truly engaged community member."
U.S. rep. Sean Maloney will be giving a congratulatory toast; other attendees include prominent business, community and political leaders.
