NEWBURGH — Warwick author Mitzi Gerris signed copies of her book, "Mitzi: A Life Well Lived," at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

The memoir is sprinkled with stories of her marriage to Lee, the love of her life, funny escapades and a tragedy or two. “It was just my life and I wanted to tell it," the author said.

Gerris began writing "A Life Well Lived" 55 years ago. She published it in December and initially planned to hold the signing in her hometown library, Albert Wisner Public Library in January.

Janice Valentino, Director of Marketing and Development for Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc., organized the book signing.

"This wonderful book is written in a style that could only be Mitzi," Valentine said. "As you read each chapter, that is a little story on its own; it is almost as if you can hear her telling it herself."

Mickey Corn, the author's brother, was on hand to read sections of the book for the audience. He also told them: “You made the wish of my sister come true, a Mitzvah” (a good deed or a blessing).

Copies of the book can be obtained by contacting Valentino at 845-845-561-6143 ext. 32; e-book versions can be obtained by visiting BarnesandNoble.com and searching by the author's name.
